Dixie's destiny starts here...

I didn't know what was happening to me. My Dad tried very hard to make things work, but this thing called a job kept him away for long hours every day. He said it wasn't fair to me, so with tears in his eyes he promised to find a good place that I could be loved and taken care of. He was sad and glad at the same time, when he contacted Forgotten Friends-Mixed Breed Rescue. They would take me into their rescue, and place me in a foster home until the right family was found for me.

This is the beginning of my story in my foster home...

Yes, it's true I'm Delightful Dixie...but I'm also a Dynamic Dynamo! I can jump and twirl and spin in the air and move soooo fast my foster parents can't even get a picture of me in action!
It's fun to play with my big brothers. We get along pretty good (most of the time). And even though they are bigger and stronger, I'm not scared at all'cuz I'm W-A-Y faster!
My foster daddy even says I'd be great for fly-ball or on agility courses. I heard him tell my foster mommy, "Dixie is so fast, and so sleek, she could go STRAIGHT through the 'weave' poles."
I'm a happy girl who aims to please. When I play fetch with the ball or toy bone, I run and get it and bring it back super-fast. I'll play tug a little if daddy wants to and I let go when he says "drop." That's "very good AND smart," foster-mommy says!
Anyway, I hope you can tell I'm having a good time at my foster-home, but I really am looking for a place to call my forever home. Somewhere I can give my love and attention to my new owners and show them my all-star athletic side, along with my cute and cuddly, warm and wonderful side.
Hope to see you soon! (Maybe one day you'll be whistling for Dixie :)...that's me!)

Dixie's Bio...

Breed: German Shepard Mix (small)
Age: 1 1/2 years young
Weight: 30 lbs.
She is current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, spayed and microchipped. She is on heartworm and flea & tick preventive medications.

Dixie enjoys the company of other dogs (she tends to be alpha and will probably need to be with dogs larger then her), but would also love to have her family's attention all to herself. She is active and would be an excellent running partner. I believe she could excel at agility or flyball if given the opportunity and training. She is incredibly fast and agile.

Here are some things that she is working on:
-stay command
-down command
-not jumping on people
-look command (look at the trainer not the treat)
-walking on the leash

Here are the things that she does well:
-seems to be house trained (no accidents with us)
-sit
-responds to no and listens (most of the time)
-crate trained (willingly - with command crate-up)
-shakes
-drop (most of the time)
-loving
-wants to please
